~ Annual Elks Camp Barrett Scout Camporee with USNA ~
Each Year in November , the Elks Camp Barrett hosts over 900 scouts for the Annual Scout Jamboree. Scout troops arrive on Friday evening and Scouts and set their camping tents on the athletic fields or the wooded campsites. Cabins are usually reserved for cub scouts and girl scouts. A light snack is provided as well as a full hot breakfast the next day.
On Saturday, the scouts travel to the United States Naval Academy who hosts a "USNA Scout Day" which features a tour of the USNA by the midshipmen. Thereafter the scouts join the traditional Midshipmen Parade through the streets of Annapolis to the USNA stadium. There the Camp Barrett Elk volunteers provide a lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers, sodas, and chips for all scout leaders and scouts. Lunch is followed by a Naval Academy football game. After the game. the scouts return to Camp Barrett for dinner followed by a scout led bonfire and evening program. On Sunday, another hot breakfast is served within the ECB dining hall. Also there is a scout-led non-denominational spiritual service held at the scout-built hillside chapel before the scouts depart.
