Nestled within a secluded forest of towering trees and deep, winding ravines and a meandering stream, Camp Barrett is a multi-season retreat operated by the Elks. Despite its serene untouched setting, this hidden sanctuary is just minutes from the Annapolis Mall, the Historic Annapolis City Dock, and the United States Naval Academy (USNA), offering a surprising blend of tranquility and accessibility
The camp’s story began in the early 1950s when a generous donation of approximately [147] acres of pristine woodland inspired 37 Elks Lodges of the Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia Elks Assciation to create a haven for outdoor adventure, personal growth, and community service.
Today, Camp Barrett continues to thrive, offering a unique and welcoming space for children, adults, and local organizations to gather, explore, and make memories. The Elks continue to preserve and maintain this cherished multi-season unique camping facility for children, adults and local organizations to enjoy.
Camp Barrett offers...two pavilions, several athletic fields, Olympic-size swimming pool, volleyball and basketball courts, horseshoes, hiking trails, overnight cabins, crafting rooms, rustic campsites, cool air-conditioned multi=purpose dining hall, full kitchen, outdoor grilling, a BBQ pit, group fire pits,,,,,

ANNUAL CAMP PROGRAMS: Each Year the Elks Camp Barrett hosts various camp programs. These programs include the Elks Family Picnic for members of the Elks, The Camp Barrett Summer camp of multiple weeks for boys and girls 8-11 of Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia, the Camp Sunrise Inc. for children afflicted with cancer, the Adult Camporee weekend for Elk Members and the Scout Camporee for Boy Scouts in conjunction with the US Naval Academy. The Camp offers many different camps in the Spring, Summer and Fall. .

At Camp Barrett, there are Baseball, Football, Soccer, & other Athletic Fields. an Olympic size Swimming Pool - with a full Bathhouse - which includes; Showers, Dressing Room & Lockers, separate Restrooms and a Washer/Dryer Room. There's an outside Scout built Hillside Chapel, a Basketball Court, a Volleyball Court, an Archery Range, a Shooting Range, Zip-line, Horseshoe Pits, Swings, Slides, etc. Surrounding the center of camp are twisting hiking trails to explore through the thick woods while crossing the Scout built bridges over the nearby running stream for a steep climb up "Hamburger Hill" (a 45 degree hill lovingly named by kids of past years). In addition to the main dining hall with its full state-of-the-art kitchen facility, offices & restrooms, there are also; Two Activity Pavilions with many picnic tables, an Arts & Crafts Building, separate Counselors Cabin, several wooded Campsites with Fire-Pits and a Lean-to, as well as group gathering bonfire locations scattered throughout. There's a Grounds-Keeper/Caretakers House stationed at the Camp entry. For Campers housing, there are a series of 6 Bunkhouses along with a First Aid Cabin with an attached Camp Directors' Quarters that are all jointly maintained by the now 37 strong Elks Lodges of the Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia Elks Association
